Tactfolio compared with other trading platforms
Tactfolio is a platform where you build rules-based investing strategies, backtest them on decades of real prices, share them, and run them automatically in your own Alpaca account. You can build by hand in a visual builder or by asking an AI assistant. Here is how it compares with other tools people use for rules-based and automated investing, and what each one does better.
| Tool | What it is | It suits |
|---|---|---|
| Composer | A no-code app and broker for automated stock and ETF strategies | People who want one app that holds the account and trades for them |
| Portfolio Visualizer | A website for backtesting and analyzing portfolios | Investors and advisers who want deep analysis of a fixed mix, without trading |
| Autopilot | An app that copies portfolios of politicians, investors, and funds | People who want to follow someone else’s picks without building anything |
| Option Alpha | A no-code platform for options trading bots | Options traders who want bots to open and manage trades |
| QuantConnect | A cloud platform for trading algorithms in Python or C# | Programmers who want many markets, intraday data, and full control |

| QuantMage | A no-code strategy builder that trades through Alpaca | People who want many market series in their rules and will pay for automation |
| Collective2 | A marketplace for following other traders’ strategies | People who want to follow a manager with a live track record |
| Portfolio123 | A platform for ranking stocks by company data | Stock pickers who want to screen and rank by earnings, value, and growth |
| TuringTrader | A signal service for ready-made tactical portfolios | Investors who want tested portfolios and will place trades by hand |
| ZuluTrade | A copy trading platform for forex and CFDs | Forex traders outside the US who want to copy other traders |
| ORATS | An options research and data company | Options traders who want deep options backtests and data |
How we compare#
We take every fact about another product from its own website, help pages, pricing page, or official filings. Each comparison lists those pages and the day we checked them. Prices and features change, so check the other site before you decide. Our editorial policy explains how we write and check pages.
We say plainly where another tool is the better fit. Tactfolio runs long-only strategies. Stock and ETF strategies use daily prices and trade through Alpaca. Crypto strategies on Hyperliquid perps can be backtested on hourly or daily bars, but they don’t trade real money yet. If you need options, forex, short selling, or minute-by-minute trading, another tool on this page will suit you better.
