What is ZuluTrade?#

ZuluTrade calls itself a social trading platform. Leaders trade forex and CFDs, and ZuluTrade ranks them with a score called ZuluRank. You choose Leaders, and their trades are copied into your account automatically. A tool called ZuluGuard can cut a Leader off if losses pass a limit you set.

ZuluTrade was founded in 2007 and is part of the Finvasia Group. Its main offices are in Greece and Cyprus. It lists licenses in Greece, Japan, Mauritius, and South Africa.

What is Tactfolio?#

Tactfolio is a platform where you build rules-based investing strategies, backtest them on decades of real prices, share them, and run them automatically in your own Alpaca account. You can build by hand in a visual builder or by asking an AI assistant.

A Tactfolio strategy is a set of rules. Here is one: “Hold the S&P 500 while it is above its 10-month average. Else, hold Treasury bills.” It is Faber’s timing model, one of the classics you can open, test, and copy.

Copy trading vs rules#

This is the main difference. On ZuluTrade, you trust a Leader’s track record. You don’t see why they trade, and a good run can end. By default, Leaders are paid for each lot their followers trade.

On Tactfolio, every strategy is a written rule. You can read it and see its backtest first. You can also copy a public strategy and run your own copy. A backtest is a test of rules on past prices. It shows how a rule would have done, not how it will do. Why past results mislead explains the limits.

Risk#

ZuluTrade’s markets are mostly CFDs and forex from forex brokers. These use leverage, so losses can grow fast. ZuluTrade’s own site warns that 74% to 89% of retail CFD accounts lose money, citing ESMA, the EU markets regulator.

Tactfolio strategies are long only. They hold stocks, ETFs, and cash, with no borrowing or short selling. Any strategy can still lose money, especially one that holds leveraged ETFs.

Brokers#

ZuluTrade isn’t the broker. You open an account with one of its partner brokers, or link an MT4, MT5, ActTrader, or X Open Hub account. Many of its listed brokers are regulated offshore, and minimum deposits run from $50 to $500. We found no clear statement that it serves US residents today.

Tactfolio connects to Alpaca, paper or live, with your own API keys. Each strategy trades only the starting balance you give it. You can also use a Tactfolio paper account with pretend money first.

Pricing#

ZuluTrade is free with some partner brokers, which pay through the spread on your trades. Otherwise, you pay per Leader you copy, as of October 16, 2026: $10 a month, or $8.30 a month on a 12-month plan.

Tactfolio has three plans. Free costs $0. It includes unlimited building and backtests and 1 live strategy in your own Alpaca account. Plus costs $12 a month or $99 a year and runs 10 live strategies. Pro costs $29 a month or $249 a year and runs up to 100 at once. Paid plans are not open yet, so every feature is free until billing opens. See Tactfolio pricing.

Price is not the main reason to pick one over the other. ZuluTrade copies other traders, mostly in forex, and Tactfolio runs rules you can read and test.

What are the best ZuluTrade alternatives?#

ZuluTrade alternatives fall into three groups, by what you copy. Facts were checked on each tool’s own pages on October 16, 2026.

AlternativeWhat you copyWhere trades go
Collective2Trades of strategy managers, on a live recordYour own account at a supported broker
AutopilotPortfolios inspired by politicians, famous investors and fundsYour own account at brokers such as Robinhood, Schwab and Public
TactfolioA published set of rules for stocks and ETFs, which you can read and testYour own Alpaca account, run by you

A strategy’s past results are not a promise. The author is not your adviser and does not know your situation. Read Tactfolio vs Collective2, Tactfolio vs Autopilot and how copying a strategy works on Tactfolio.
