Terms of service

Last updated October 16, 2026.

In short: Tactfolio is software you use to build, test and run your own investing rules. It is not a broker or an adviser. You are responsible for what you trade. Use it fairly, keep your keys safe, and read the risk disclaimer.

These terms apply when you use tactfolio.com, the Tactfolio app, or the Tactfolio MCP server through an AI assistant. By creating an account or using Tactfolio, you agree to them. “We” means the Tactfolio team.

Who can use Tactfolio#

You must be 18 or older to create an account. You need a working email address, and you are responsible for everything done with your account, including by any AI assistant you connect to it. Keep your password safe and tell us at once if you think someone else used your account.

What Tactfolio is#

Tactfolio is a research and automation tool. It is not a broker, a bank, a fund or an investment adviser, and nothing on Tactfolio is advice. The risk disclaimer is part of these terms. Please read it.

Backtests are hypothetical. They show how rules would have done on past prices, not how they will do.

Trading through your own broker#

If you connect Alpaca or Hyperliquid, Tactfolio places orders in your own account, with keys you give us, following the strategy you chose. You decide which strategy runs and how much money it uses. You can stop it at any time.

Your broker is a separate company with its own terms. It holds your money, not us. Orders can fail, fill late or fill at a different price. Software, data and connections can break. You accept these risks when you start trading, and you are responsible for the trades your strategy makes.

AI assistants#

You can connect an AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, through our MCP server. The assistant acts for you, with the access you approved. It can build, test, save and delete strategies in your account. It cannot publish strategies, trade or change your account settings.

Assistants can make mistakes. Check what an assistant builds before you rely on it. We do not control the assistant you choose, and its maker’s terms also apply.

Your strategies and content#

What you create stays yours. Your strategies are private until you publish them.

When you publish a strategy, you allow anyone to view it, and Tactfolio members to copy it, change it, combine it with other strategies and trade it. This permission covers the published version and lasts after you stop sharing it, for copies already made. You also allow us to show, rank, store and share it on Tactfolio and in search results.

Only publish what you have the right to share. Do not publish someone else’s work as your own, or anything unlawful, misleading or harmful.

Fair use#

Please do not:

  • break the law or anyone’s rights with Tactfolio;
  • try to get into accounts or systems that are not yours;
  • overload, scrape or attack Tactfolio, or get around its limits;
  • resell Tactfolio’s market data or backtests as your own data service;
  • use Tactfolio to mislead others, for example by passing off a backtest as real results.

We may limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other members at risk.

Data and availability#

We work to keep prices, economic data and backtests correct and Tactfolio running. Data can still have errors, gaps or delays, and Tactfolio can be down. Results can change after we fix a data error. We provide Tactfolio “as is”, without any promise that it will be correct, complete or always available.

Price#

Tactfolio is free while we build. If we start charging for something, we will tell you before it applies to you, and you can choose whether to pay.

Limits on our responsibility#

As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for investment losses, missed gains, trading losses, lost data, or indirect losses that come from using Tactfolio, its backtests, its data, an AI assistant or a broker. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under the law that cannot be limited.

Closing your account#

You can stop using Tactfolio at any time and ask us to delete your account from the Support page. The privacy policy explains what we delete. Stop your live strategies first: closing your account does not close positions at your broker.

Changes to these terms#

When we change these terms, we update the date at the top. If a change matters, we will tell members by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Tactfolio after that, the new terms apply.

Contact#

Write to us from the Support page. You do not need an account, and we reply by email.
